Perinatal Ethics

About Us:

The Perinatal Ethics Subcommittee is comprised of clinicians, researchers and academics with an interest in the ethical issues which arise during reproductive, pregnancy and newborn care. Its membership includes midwives, obstetricians and gynaecologists, ethicists, neonatal nurses, neonatologists and paediatric sub-specialists. This multi-professional approach allows for diverse perspectives on complex issues.

The PSANZ Perinatal Ethics subcommittee aims to:

  • Encourage open dialogue about ethics in perinatal medicine and foster ethical literacy amongst clinicians
  • Provide opportunities for ongoing ethics education alongside clinical education
  • Promotion of research and publication opportunities related to perinatal ethics
  • Link together a community of ethically-minded individuals in perinatal practice, enabling multi-professional collaborations.
